Client Application Enabler

The Client Application Enabler (CAE) is common to all DB2 Common Server products. It provides the communications support for applications to communicate with the database server, and is required for any application accessing the server.

CAE provides communications support for many different client platforms.

A workstation that has the CAE installed can access any DB2 server, using any of a number of supported communication protocols. This heterogeneous support protects your existing investment in client workstations, and allows you to select a server machine that is most appropriate for your database environment.

DB2 Server provides you with a Client Pack which includes one of each of the available CAEs. You can copy the CAE to the appropriate workstations for each remote client that will be connecting to the server.
